Our Doctors

Dr. Sarah Herres:

Dr. Sarah Herres graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997.  After graduation, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona to work at a large emergency and critical care practice.  In 2002, her husband’s career brought her to Idaho Falls. There was not an emergency practice in the area, so she began learning small animal daytime practice. She found she missed the unique challenges of emergency medicine and felt there was an unmet need for community pets. In 2007, along with several area veterinarians she established Idaho Falls Veterinary Emergency Practice. In 2010 she became the director and continued working tirelessly to expand services and quality of care available for those needing emergency services. In 2019, she passed the reins of management to Dr. Bailey and continues to work as an associate.

When not working, Dr. Herres is an active member in the community especially in her children’s schools. She also never misses the opportunity to go for an adventure on the trails with her family and her dog Shilo.

Dr. Natasha Stanley:

Dr. Stanley started her love for veterinary medicine while growing up on a small farm in Missouri. She officially started her career working for her local vet as an assistant. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology at Arizona State University and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State University, where she graduated in 2012. She has worked in a variety of emergency and critical care setting before joining the team at IFVEC in 2019.

Her professional interests include critical care and complicated anesthetic management of those patients, soft tissue surgery, advanced multi-modal analgesia (pain management,) and evidence based acupuncture.

Outside of work Natasha enjoys exploring all the beautiful wilderness that Eastern Idaho has to offer with her black lab Isaac, reading, backpacking, swimming, running, kayaking and spending time with her pets.

Dr. Chris Bailey:

Dr. Chris Bailey was born and raised in the flat lands of Michigan. He essentially always knew he wanted to be an emergency veterinarian, but it wasn’t until his last year of vet school at Michigan State that he knew the Northwest was going to be his home. While driving west for a clinical rotation, he saw mountains for the first time and immediately fell in love. His career started in Washington, before moving through several of the region’s largest emergency and critical care facilities in WA and OR. In 2019, he joined IFVEC as Medical Director and is excited to continue helping grow the practice to meet the ever increasing emergency needs of the region's pets.

While he loves the unique challenges provided daily by emergency medicine, he is especially passionate about transfusion medicine, complex internal medicine cases, and soft tissue surgery.

When he’s not working you can find him, his partner Kirsten, and their dogs Keto and Bugs mountain biking, rock climbing, back packing, and trail running.
